Notes/Observations
Experience what you have learned.
No matter how much we think we know about any topic, we get confirmation of our understanding after we have put that knowledge into use.
I must constantly remind myself of this lesson after reading a new book. Sometimes the lesson helps me be selective of new reading material as I want to be able to use what I read.

Book of the Week
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
The book is about the early days of Phil Knight in his journey to creating the world-famous sneaker brand Nike.
Shoe-Dog is an excellent and enjoyable read that displays the power of persistence, hard work, dreams, and opportunity.
It shows his disappointments and struggles in his travels around the world between 1962 to 1980 as he built Nike into an international brand, the forefront of the sneaker industry, and a multi-billion dollar business.
3 Great lessons from Shoe Dog
1. Passions prevail.
Even though Knight hated sales, he made a living selling shoes because he believed in his product.
2. Beginning is the hardest part.
Beginnings are always scary; it means moving out of your comfort zone, which elicits fear.
A great quote from Knight is;
"The cowards never started, and the weak died along the way. So that leaves us, ladies and gentlemen. Us."
and lastly
3. Just do it!
'"Just do it" has become one of the greatest tag lines in Business history. It's profound, especially since it embodies the essence of both Nike and Nike's founder.
There are so many lessons in this book. I strongly recommend you read it.
