A really good interview from what is becoming one of my favorite podcasts, "The Pivot," talks to Basketball and business legend Shaquille O'Neal.
Takeaways
Don't let your ego ruin your family life. Shaq describes how he ruined his first marriage because of his ego and wanting more than he had. He fully owns up for his mistake of ruining a great thing.
Always be ready to jump on opportunities to make your life better. Shaq was not afraid to get into businesses that would help him beyond basketball.
Collaborations are essential for growth. Shaq makes no bones about not being up to date on his numerous businesses. He emphasizes having great business partners with integrity as a way to grow. Hire and partner with talented people and let them do their thing.

Book of the Week
“Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less” by Greg McKeown
“Essentialism” is a disciplined, systematic approach to determining where our highest point of contribution lies, making executing those things almost effortless.
Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done.
This book is my favorite of the five because it emphasizes time management, energy, and stress management by only doing what is essential.
Essentialism doesn’t mean doing less for the sake of less; It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy to operate at peak performance by doing only what is essential.
Biggest Takeaway
“If you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will.”
