Would you be interested in taking this treatment?
Of course, you would.
Well, according to Matthew Walker, Author of the book "Why We Sleep - Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams," this is treatment accessible to everyone - every day.
It's as simple as getting 7-9 hours of sleep daily. Who would have thought sleep would be so important?
I mean, clearly, this guy as he is a Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the U-C-Berkeley, and Founder and director of the Center for Human Sleep Science.
And has published over 100 scientific research studies on the impact of sleep on human brain function. So he definitely has skin in the game and lives that life.
This is a challenge - as I used to think I was good with 4-5 hours of sleep a night. All thru my 20s, that's what it was, but now that I am 40, I see the benefit.
Having 8-9 hours of sleep feels like a vacation now - crazy, but I understand.
One of the book's real strengths is how clearly it explains the extent of the damage brought on by lack of sleep.
"Human beings are the only species that deliberately deprive themselves of sleep for no obvious gain,"
In one passage, he states;
If you're sleeping for less than seven hours a night, you're doing yourself a disservice as grave as that of smoking.
You deprive yourself of physical healing,
Ability to recover from illness,
solving problems
consolidating memories,
and improving motor skills
He also mentions that If you haven't slept, your ability to learn new things could drop by up to 40%
Definitely, a fascinating book if you want simple, actionable ways to get better rest - tonite.
So make sure you get that sleep.
