Thoughts/Observations
Chadwick Boseman
One of my favorite actors. Chadwick always projected dignity in his roles and in life. He starred in many influential roles. I used to joke that he was the one-man black history month - he played such amazing historical figures Jackie Robinson, James Brown, Thurgood Marshall, and of course the fictional but still iconic T’Challa - The Black Panther. Chadwick was such an inspiration it is sad to see him go.

District 9 (No link - Show available on Netflix)
District 9 is an incredible film that is partially presented in a found footage format by featuring fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras. The story, which explores themes of humanity, xenophobia and social segregation, begins in an alternate 1982 when an alien spaceship appears over Johannesburg, South Africa. When a population of sick and malnourished insectoid aliens is discovered on the ship, the South African government confines them to an internment camp called District 9. Twenty years later, during the government's relocation of the aliens to another camp, one of the confined aliens named Christopher Johnson, who is about to try to escape from Earth with his son and return home, crosses paths with a bureaucrat leading the relocation named Wikus van der Merwe. The title and premise of District 9 were inspired by events in Cape Town's District Six, during the apartheid era.
Rough Ryders Chronicles. (No link - Show available on B.E.T)
Fascinating documentary using rare archival footage and dramatic re-creations of pivotal events, Ruff Ryder Chronicles is a five-part docuseries that recounts Ruff Ryders' rise to hip-hop superstardom. Showcasing The rise of DMX, Eve, The LOX, and Swizz Beatz.
As an avid fan of Hip Hop, it was impressive to see the rise of this collective.
