Thoughts/Observations
Cultivate a Positive Attitude.
"Your attitude determines your latitude" - Kanye West.
It costs you virtually nothing to have a good attitude, not a fake one, but a generally positive mental one. I first came across this philosophy from the quintessential self-help classic "Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Which he describes Positive mental attitude as;
"A must for all who wish to make life pay off on their terms. Nothing great was ever achieved without a positive mental attitude."
How many people do you come across who have straight-up shitty attitudes? No matter what, they always have a problem for every solution.
We all have, and chances are that person was us at one point.
Don't get me wrong I am not saying you and I don't have challenging days that require the strength of The Rock to weather through it, but it costs nothing to reframe your perspective.
Looking at things on the bright side makes a world of difference.
One practice I started doing a few years back was instead of saying, "I have to" I now declare, "I get to."
Ex: I have to go to work. = I get to go to work.
I used to hate going into my workplace. Then COVID hit, and there wasn't a workplace to go into any more for months.
Instead of being negative, I decided to change that perspective.
During my time away from work, I never thought I "have to" stay home, I realized I "get to" stay home.
I get to utilize this free time to be home with family.
I get to study.
I get to read books I have been putting off.
I get to reinvent myself with new skills.
I "get to" have free time to build my side business.
I get to write.
When I was called back to work, I initially said, "I have" to go back to work, but I quickly reminded myself, "I get to go back to work."
and work will allow me to continue learning leadership skills on the company dime.
I get to utilize work like an active partner helping me bring in money to fund my other ventures and feed my family.
That shift in mindset cost me nothing and has given me so much.

Take away
“When you don't know where you're going in life, do not look four years down the line, do not look two years or a year. You look next week. Next month. You keep your goals short. And that way you accomplish those goals, you can start piling up little trophies or little moments to know that you are actually accomplishing something. You're actually climbing the steps to success.”

Book of the Week
How Successful People Think by John C. Maxwell
Lessons learned
Success is a mindset How you think determines your success in life.
Ideas have a short shelf life. You must act on them before the expiration date.
Spend a few moments every morning thinking about learning opportunities for the day.
Knowledge is power only if a man knows what facts are not to bother about. Focused thinking removes distraction and mental clutter so that you can concentrate on an issue and think with clarity.
The immature mind hops from one thing to another; the mature mind seeks to follow through.
Switching from task to task can cost you up to 40% efficiency. If your trying to accomplish many things at the same time, you'll get more done by focusing on one task at a time, not by switching constantly from one task to another.
Negative environments kill thousands of great ideas every minute.
If you want to break out of your own box, get into someone else's. Read broadly.
Most people want their lives to keep improving, yet they value peace and stability at the same time. People often forget that you can't improve and still stay the same. Growth means change.
Nothing helps you grow like putting your thoughts into action.
People who go to the top think differently than others. Nothing limits achievement like small thinking; Nothing expands possibilities like unleashed thinking.
Music
I listen to lots of different music. Here are some songs I played more than once this week
Seinabo Sey performs a cover of the Clean Bandit track, ‘Rather Be’
WAP - Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
I kept hearing this song everywhere this week. I like it. It is raunchy but it is their expression of art. I have no problems with it.
